Pastor Sims was a native of Canton,MS. and was a great inspiration to all that encountered him.
Pastor Sims was a man of wisdom, strength and honor...
He won many souls for Christ, and also nurtured many people into the maturity of salvation. He pastored for 37 years
and birthed 7 sons and daughters in the ministry.
Pastor sims was very talented and gifted. As a young boy he was labeled the best dancer, and as a grown man
he was labeled the best singer and preacher on this side of heaven! Pastor sims recorded an solo album on jewel records
and also recorded with Greater Tabernacle in the 1980's "God Will Answer Prayer". Pastor Sims also was
labeled as the "Barry White of Gospel as he did radio for 6 years on WBEE,WYCA and WYBA with his daughter Jayonna.
Pastor Sims, was also a community activist.
He started 111th & 112th St. block clubs, started a food pantry for the community, was on the Executive Board
for Nehimiah Collilation, started youth basketball teams, promoted concerts and often evangelized through the Roseland
Community.
Pastor
Sims was a successful businessman as well. He was a land lord of several apartment complexes, owned a
fleet of 48 yellow school buses entitled "J & B Transportation" and later bought a one stop auto shop
"Sims All Service" which was located on the southside of Chicago.
The "JB Sims Scholarship Fund was created in 2005
in memoriam of all of his accomplishments and aspirations....
Pastor
Sims believed if every person can call their child home for dinner at 6pm there would not be a child left on the street. Pastor
loved his family and had strong family beliefs. He always said "A strong family, makes a strong
church and a strong church makes a strong community"....
He will
be forever remembered and missed.... for he's touched many lives.
